On the weekend I was doing a 10K run. I’d been training for for many months and am not going to get all self deprecating about it because I worked hard to be able to do it and not collapse half way round. I’ve written before about how helpful running is for me. How it sorts my head out first thing even if it’s just for twenty minutes in the morning. I went with two friends and on the way there we were talking about work as this friend was about to start a new job and the subject of women bosses came up.
We were talking about a famous make up artist who has her own beauty brand who is an absolute horror to work for, rapidly pushing her teams to burn out, constantly demanding unrealistic deadlines and undermining her staff at every opportunity. She publicly dresses her team members down on fashion shoots and seems to run a culture of fear. She is parodied a lot on social media but usually in a fun way. I sometimes wonder what would happen if people saw the real person. Perhaps then it wouldn't be quite so funny.
