I was famous for 15 minutes and it was weird
Or how to let go of those dreams and accept where you are
In 2018/19 I was in a relatively successful podcast called ‘The Hotbed’. We talked about sex and relationships, and had experts each episode who would give advice or we’d interview an author or activist. 75% of the work of this podcast was done by my friend Lisa Williams. We also wrote a book together, and again I can probably say that Lisa did the lion’s share of that too (Lisa if you are reading this - you are amazing and very talented and possibly the best person I’ve ever worked with, Cherry- that’s true of you too). It was a proper book deal with Penguin and we did a lot of press and interviews. We appeared in ‘The Evening Standard’, did an interview with Emma Barnett on Radio 4, appeared in ‘The Mirror’ and then had a full photo spread in ‘You’ mag. I had recently had a baby and was in a manic state. I fully believed that I could exist on no sleep and as long as I kept applying more and more make up, everything would be okay.
I remember falling over a lot (I was also 46 when I had this second baby which is not quite Janet Jackson territory but almost).
