How getting a kitten ends up being hard work

So a few weeks back we were on holiday, travelling in the car and the kids were fighting in the back. The sun was out and I’d got some good news from an editor I was working with. I was doing the usual, trying to reply to work emails whilst also moderating the fight in the back, and also throwing snacks to quieten things down (I wasn’t driving to be clear). I somehow ended up on Facebook and saw that the charity where we had got our last cats from (very low maintenance cats who spend 95% of their time outside), were desperate for families to foster and adopt kittens. I shouted into the back of the car - ‘Hey wouldn’t it be great to get a kitten?’ and the noise stopped. My partner shrugged, thinking perhaps that this was one of my impulsive moods that would pass. The kids got very excited. I messaged the woman running the charity and told her we’d be interested.
