Yesterday was KM’s big birthday. The one that is now seen as 40 but is actually 50. On Instagram I saw that she had been celebrating with her posse of midlife cool women somewhere exotic. In one photo she was wearing a garland of flowers/herbs on her head and was sitting cross legged on the sand with a group of other women who were doing the same. Anyone else would have looked like a twat but she didn’t. She looked cool. I thought about my own birthday at Pizza Express with my family and felt a tiny bit smaller inside. Like part of me was being eroded away into insignificance.
