I used to pretty much ignore LinkedIn as a platform. I suppose many of us did as it wasn’t really the place where you found gainful employment. You found it through talking to other colleagues to see if they’d heard of anything. If you were me you simply stayed in the same role for 18 years because you weren’t sure what the heck you were doing with your life. So I probably got on there properly 5 years ago and since then have used it to follow companies I’m interested in, and to do a bit of blowing my own trumpet (my work trumpet that is). I don’t get the tone right and I worry that my content isn’t aligned with the LinkedIn brand. It is often a bit grumpy. It is also not very strategic. I guess I am much more of a regular Instagram person and have found LinkedIn content to be really strange.
‘I can’t believe I can finally announce my new role!’ someone declared yesterday as if we had all been waiting with baited breath to hear about it.
‘I can finally reveal that I am Senior Co-ordinator for JumpStart VX 2,’ another claimed.
‘My new role at Titan 785, Staines has kicked off today!’
