A busy week pushed me to the edge
Or how we need to rest especially when we're not actually 21 anymore
As a writer there are good and bad times. There are times when you are busy and getting lots of work, and times when there isn’t so much of that energy, and you start to get anxious. Last week was busy. When it’s like that you perhaps feel that you have to push yourself hard so you can maximise those opportunities. I sometimes forget that I am 51. I am 51 fuckers! Not 21. When I was 21 I had far less drive. I thought going to a lecture for two hours was draining, and would need a couple of hours of daytime TV, and later on some drinking in the student bar to recharge. Now I work all day - hunched over my laptop - doing the thing I love, but also with the anxiety that any minute this situation could stop, and I could be drawn back into the world I don’t love anymore (the corporate world that I used to inhabit).
